Guru lineage





Mahaavatar Babaji  is the Guru of Lahiri Mahasaya. Babaji Maharaj Initiated Lahiri Mahasaya in very interesting circumstances in the Himalayas. He is said to be a kalpa yogi who is ageless and still gives darshan to devotees. He revived the ancient path of kriya yoga and by allowing Lahiri Mahasaya to teach to all interested devotees opened the gate of ancient secret path of kriya yoga to the world. According to Paramahansa Yoganandaji, it was Babaji’s divine plan to send him to the west to spread the message of kriya yoga. According to Lahiri Mahasaya “The mere utterance of the name 'Babaji' draws instant blessings”.





Lahiri Mahasaya was a house holder and was bought to Himalayas by the yogic power of Babaji Maharaj. Mahaavatar Babaji initiated him in to kriya yoga and allowed him to spread kriya yoga to any deserving person even if they were householders. Lahiri Mahasaya demonstrated that the path of kriya yoga can be successfully traversed even in the life of a householder. Lahiri Mahasaya had a very active service life and also was a teacher and later on was active in starting a girls school. His explanations of the holy scriptures in the light of yoga decrypted the meanings to all sadhakas. He is commonly referred to as the “Yoga Avatar” an incarnation of Yoga. According to Lahiri Mahasaya “perfection in yoga is obtained by constant practice”



Swami Sri Yukteswar giri was a disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya. He was amaster of kriya astrology. He has written some masterpieces like” The Holy science” and commentaries on Bhagavat Gita. He is the Guru of Paramahansa Yoganandaji. He is referred as “Gyana Avatar” by Paramahansa Yoganandaji.





Paramahansa Yogananda was a disciple of Swami Yukteswar Giri. He spread the message of kriya yoga throughout the world. His book Autobiography of a yogi is an all-timebest seller. He was able to decipher the secrets of Christian religion in the light of yoga thereby revealing the underlying one truth of all religion.







Swami NarayanaGiri was adirect disciple of SwamiYukteswara Giri. He devoted his life in the service of his Guru ( Swami Yukteswaraji) till his Mahasamadhi.







Swami Satyananda Giri was a disciple of swami Yukteswar Giri and a childhood friendof Paramahansa Yogananda. Satyananda was the chief monastic disciple of Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri in India. He joined the Ranchi Brahmacharya School – which the three close friends (Yogananda, Dhirananda and Satyananda) started together at Calcutta with kind and generous help from the famous philanthropist, Maharaja Manindra Chandra Nandy. Later the school moved to Dihika in Bengal, finally to Ranchi.


Swami Sri Paramahansa Atmanandji was born in a highly religious, learned andwealthy Brahmin family in Bhawani Patna, Orissa, India. From a very young age, he was taught in the rituals by his grandparents and parents, his mother often repeating prayers to the Divine Mother in his presence. Devoted to God Paramahansa Atmanandaji practiced Yoga from childhood, drawing inspiration from Advaita Guru Totapuri, Swami Sivananda Saraswati, Raman Maharshi and other great Saints of India. In his previous Ashrama and life as a householder, he was a highly qualified Doctor of Medicine. His specialization in Neurology, the science of the brain and the nervous system, proved to be a great help in the understanding and teaching of Kriya Yoga as a scientific and ageless technique to Self and God-realization. He became an authorized Yogacharya in 1973. Called to the service of God, he was initiated into Sannyasa in 1979, and has mastered all eight groups of the higher Kriya Yoga, to the stage of Samadhi. With the Blessing from Babaji Maharaj and Lahiri Mahasaya, Atmananda attained the Paramahansa state of Divine Realization in 1997.
Paramahansa Atmanandaji is training many Kriya Yogis and Yogacharyas in their Sadhana and teaching. He is also teaching many Managers and Executives in Stress Management. He has helped many Swamis, Yogis and Yogacharyas to establish their organizations and themselves to perform spiritual teachings throughout the world.
Paramahansa Atmanandaji tours in India, Europe, USA, and Canada teaching and practicing Kriya Yoga and practical spirituality. He has many Kriya Yoga Ashramas in India, Europe and North America.
According to Paramahansa Atmananda, ''Life is to be lived positively, happily, healthily, harmoniously and lovingly. Improve the quality and quantity of life by practicing Kriya Yoga daily, the sooner in life the better. You are never alone, God is always with you and He is the ultimate help".
